Opening its door in April 2008, the much-loved Greenwich Hotel
located in the neighbourhood of Tribeca, in New York City, is co-
owned by renowned American actor, Robert De Niro, Ira Drukier,
Richard Born and Raphael De Niro. The leading Greenwich Hotel
“was created with a commitment to Old-World craftsmanship
and hand-made details by utilizing techniques and materials from
all over the world.”
The Hotel has an exceptional architectural built, having been
completed by handmade bricks in different shapes and sizes. Cus-
tom cast bronze medallions immediately pop out as they adorn
in the crown of the building. The public spaces of the Greenwich
Hotel were conceived by Grayling Design whereas the interiors
were decorated by Samantha Crasco.
In regards to design details, reclaimed wood was used in various
spaces of the hotel, such as the ceiling beams in the lobby, the
drawing room and the hallway panelling. The Lobby contains
astonishing terracotta and marble floors. Lighting pieces made
from glass and bronze cast an extra sense of luxury throughout
the hotel while Turkish Travertine puts the final touch in out-
door spaces, like the courtyard and the Penthouse’s duplex roof
garden. Overall, many design elements were salvaged or inspired
by historical facts or places.
The luxurious hotel is composed by 88 guestrooms, suites and
penthouses that exude sophistication and glamour, including the
Studio and Fireplace Corner suites, as well as the TriBeCa and N.
Moore penthouses. Each guest room has its own narrative and
set of unique features, from entry doors made from recycle heart
pine to custom-made and high-end furniture pieces, to contem-
porary Italian lighting fixture, to Carrara marble bathrooms, to
Moroccan bathroom tiles in different colours, to 10-foot ceilings
and hand-carved mouldings, which were inspired by the design of
Parisian parlours, amongst many other extraordinary details that
make Greenwich a one-of-a-kind hospitality experience.
