Still in Asia, Hong Kong-born designer Vivienne Tam has con-
ceived the Vivienne Tam Designer Suite at Hotel Icon in Kow-
loon, Hong Kong, which is intended to resemble her Manhattan
residence. There you’ll be astonished by her extensive collection
of books - a mix of fashion and art tomes including biennial
fashion magazine Self Service, a book on art deco and a Chinese
erotic art book “Concubines and Courtesans.” The design is a
mix of original rich and warm wooden textures - from ceiling to
furniture to walls. Tam’s favourite colour, red, is always present,
while her signature China chic style is everywhere. Shanghai’s
art deco era is reflected in a red-carpeted bedroom, while wooden
high ceilings are inspired by traditional Chinese screens.
We fled to Mauritius, where we find the Alice Temperley
designed interiors: where high fashion and simple living
bump. Located at One&Only Le Saint Géran, the resort
features a hand-sewn, bejewelled exterior with a white and
gold interior which is lit by an antique Murano chandelier.
FASHION //
Relatively near, on Australia’s Gold Coast, we were impressed
by the original Palazzo Versace, which is described as “the
world’s first fully fashion-brand hotel”. The 200-room property
has Versace signature in all decor elements: it features bespoke
Versace furniture, Versace fabrics and Versace bath products,
as well as three restaurants, a spa and gym. It includes an
exclusive waterfront setting, spectacular architecture, opulent
accommodation, a design distinguished by Versace bespoke
furnishings and Italian craftsmanship, extraordinary service and
an ambience of pure glamour.
