We went south and we found a more tranquil, rustic property
than many of the others featured in this article. UXUA
Casa Hotel & Spa in Bahia in Brazil is owned and designed
by Wilbert Das, who was the long-term creative director of
Diesel. Here fashion and design are intimately connected and
it’s possible to reach a sort of peacefully fashion spotlight.
Local craftsmen were enlisted by Wilbert to construct UXUA
using traditional building methods and recycled materials and
nowadays the hotel is a favourite of Brazil’s fashion set. The
Brazilian elite, not to mention style-savvy visitors from the
US and Europe, come to its 10 private casas all year round,
drawn by its marvellous beachside location, dedication to
sustainable tourism and the sort of interiors that would be
featured perfectly in Wallpaper* or Elle Decoration. Its owners
reached the balance between luxury and laid-back style.
These examples show us that it’s undeniable how fashion influences interior designs of hotels around the world, since
the refurbishing to all the concept behind the interior design. Fashion is present in everyday life, looking for the sense
of achieving ultimate goods and acquire something luxurious that is not accessible to everyone. Therefore, fashion in
hotels came to fill this gap of luxury in design, enlarging the segment of the audience who is able to reach this kind
of guilty pleasures. Versace, Karl Lagerfeld or Ferragamo are undoubtedly fashion references that will turn your hotel
experience in the most desired one, depending on the hotel you choose to stay for an unforgettable relaxing journey.
And the time to visit the American continent came. In Jamaica,
Round Hill Hotel & Villas Resort has welcomed numerous celebri-
ties and is today the site of a holiday villa belonging to Ralph Lau-
ren. Very familiar with the setting, he has designed a number of the
resort’s rooms and villa suites. Impeccably designed to evoke a crisp,
clean Caribbean ambience, the oceanfront rooms at Round Hill are
as stunning as they are comfortable.
Cool, white stone floors, romantic, four-poster mahogany beds
and sumptuous, upholstered furniture from the designer’s Home
Collection ensure every guest’s comfort, while spacious bathrooms
featuring deep soaking tubs, freestanding rain showers and double
vanities add an extra level of luxury. All 36 guestrooms boast un-
believable views of Round Hill’s Bay and underwater reef, and are
steps from the main infinity pool and white sand beach. Upper-level
ocean view rooms have towering cathedral ceilings and large, lou-
vered windows that fold back to expose the turquoise sea, while
lower level patio rooms feature quaint, secluded balconies that
make a perfect spot for morning coffee. All rooms are outfitted with
a king or two double beds, and many of the rooms feature connect-
ing doors making them perfect for families with children.
