With a strong emphasis on guest privacy, the new camp layout maxi-
mises the endless views ensuring that each tented suite enjoys its own
private Mara experience. The 12 luxury tents preserve the views they
have always enjoyed, while 16 of the 28 superior tents, overlook the
Mara with vistas as far as the eye can see. The Camp has three family
suites of two interconnecting tents that are ideal for people travelling
with children or small groups on safari together. Guests can opt to
keep the passageway adjoining the two tents open or closed, meaning
that children can get to and from their parent’s tent easily without
going outside. As part of &Beyond’s WILDchild programme, younger
guests experience fascinating animal encounters and, under guidance,
are encouraged to explore their surroundings, getting to touch, taste
and interact with a captivating new world.
For years, the ever-popular “garden to table” lunch experience allows
guests to select ingredients for their lunch directly from the lodge’s
shamba (vegetable garden). The flourishing shamba is now situated in
an al fresco courtyard near the guest dining area and guests are invited
to browse the rows of fresh vegetables and select whatever suits their
taste buds. Chef George and his team will then take those vegetables
to the interactive kitchen area and whip up a healthy, hearty and deli-
cious lunch. This is just one of the many memorable and unique guest
experiences that make &Beyond Kichwa Tembo truly different.
The Masai Mara National Reserve is home to a vast amount of res-
ident wildlife, as well as the annual Great Migration between July
and October. It is also possible to enjoy interpretive nature walks and
exhilarating night game drives. &Beyond’s sensitive off-road driving
practices allow for up-close wildlife interactions.
In conclusion, the design and décor are the result of a collaborative
effort between three teams. Nicholas Plewman Architects and Mi-
chaelis Boyd Associates were responsible for the architecture, while
FoxBrowne Creative ensured &Beyond’s warm brand is reflected in
the interior décor.
