MILAN MEN’S FASHION WEEK
Fall/Winter 19/20
Milan has always played an utmost important role in Europe.
Ever since its establishment, the Drinkable city has been the cen-
tre stage, not only regarding geopolitical reasons but also for a
rather natural bias to host important cultural events. After all,
it is the birthplace of legends such as Leonardo DaVinci and Gi-
useppe Verdi. It would only be natural that the historic transal-
pine city became the world’s fashion capital. There’s absolutely
no better thing to do in the city than strolling down the Galleria
Vittorio Emanuele II, checking Prada’s latest collection while lis-
tening to the good old La Traviata. Well, except if you go to the
prestigious Milan Fashion Week, of course.
The event is hosted by the Camera Nazionale Della Moda Ital-
iana (The National Chamber for Italian Fashion), which is the
nonprofit making Association which disciplines, co-ordinates
and promotes the development of Italian Fashion. The Associa-
tion represents all the highest cultural values of Italian Fashion.
It aims to protect, coordinate and strengthen its image, both in
Italy and abroad.
Every new season, the fashion world’s spotlight shines upon this
magical Italian city, and it shines back with the latest trends,
where designers star and models gleam. From Fendi to Givenchy,
men’s fashion world just got rocked by a trendy hurricane.
FENDI
“Dualism in the DNA of Fendi, under every form,” says Silvia
Venturini Fendi, Creative Director for menswear. The Fen-
di Men’s Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Collection from the Roman
fashion house is the fruit of her collaboration with Karl La-
gerfeld. Dualism is expressed in a swirling futurism and clas-
sicism for silhouettes in a colour palette dominated by black,
beige and brown, heightened by accents of red and electric
blue. Fendi’s legendary Baguette bag makes its debut for men
in cross-body, hand-carried and belt bag versions. Cordovan
and patent leather shoes echo Karl Lagerfeld’s signature with
Cuban heels. The show culminated on a powerful note with a
performance by Chinese singer Jackson Wang, the new Fendi
ambassador in China.
