Diese Stühle sind die ersten Freischwinger
der Möbelgeschichte. Sie wurden 1927 in der
Weißenhof-Siedlung in Stuttgart zum ersten Mal
eingesetzt. Ab 1925 experimentierte Mart Stam
mit Gasleitungsrohren, die er mit Flanschen
verband, und entwickelte daraus das Prinzip frei
kragender Stühle, die nicht mehr auf vier Beinen
ruhten. Damit war ein Konstruktionsprinzip ge-
schaffen, das in seiner formalen Zurückhaltung
zu einem wichtigen Baustein in der Geschichte
des modernen Möbeldesigns wurde. Stam kam
Gestell
Stahlrohr verchromt. Bespannung mit vollnarbi-
gem Kernleder oder mit Kunststoff-Netzgewebe
in Schwarz, Weiß oder Silber. Armauflagen in
Massivholz Buche oder Elastomerkunststoff
schwarz. Wird auch in „Pure Materials“-
Ausführungen mit Büffelleder gefertigt. Mit
„ThonetProtect®“-Oberfläche für die Gestelle
und UV-beständigem Netzgewebe (Ausführung
„Thonet All Seasons“), auch variabel für den
Innen- und Außenbereich einsetzbar. Armauf-
lagen aus Iroko, Elastomerkunststoff oder Netz-
gewebe. Zusätzlich Kissenauflage bestehend
aus Sitzkissen und Rückenkissen.
These chairs are the first cantilever chairs
in furniture history. They were used for the
first time in 1927 in the Weissenhof-Siedlung
in Stuttgart. Starting in 1925, Mart Stam
experimented with gas pipes that he connected
with flanges and developed the principle of
cantilevering chairs that no longer rest on four
legs. He thus created a construction principle
that became an important building block in
the history of modern furniture design with
its formal reservation. In the beginning, Stam
was not yet focused on the flexing effect of the
bent tubular steel; rather, he was interested in
the clear form, which perfectly fit in with the
modern buildings of the time.
Without (S 33) or with armrests (S 34). Frame
chrome-plated tubular steel. Covered with full-
grain butt leather or synthetic mesh in black,
white or silver. Armrests in solid beech or black
elastomer. Also available with Buffalo Leather
in “Pure Materials“ versions. With “Thonet-
Protect®” surface for the frames and UV resist-
ant mesh – version “Thonet All Seasons” – for
variable use indoors and outdoors. Armrests
Iroko, elastomer plastic or mesh. In addition,
cushions for seat and backrest.
