DESIGNER
Jean Paul
Gaultier
Nicknamed the “enfant terrible” of French
fashion, this French designer and stylist likes
to break with convention, reinvent classics,
and play up opposites. Jean Paul Gaultier
draws on humor and irreverence. His fashion
is festive, iconoclastic, and celebrates diver-
sity. The discerning eye of the French desi-
gner combined with Roche Bobois’
savoir-faire has given life to a collection that
unveils the profound interplay between
fashion and decoration. A poetic, sophisti-
cated collection composed of a mix of fra-
grances, sensual materials and subtle
contrasts. In his reinterpretation of the Mah
Jong sofa, he freely juxtaposes his signature
sailor stripes with tattoo designs, kitsch roses
and a romantic photograph. Mixing up genres
is one of his signatures.
