(En) Liuta offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic monobloc
plastic garden chair: it retains the archetype’s vertical stackability while
redefining everything else. At the heart of this redesign is the contrast
between a wide seat with soft lines and a narrow, geometric backrest –
hence the name Liuta, a reference to the lute, an ancient musical in-
strument characterised by the marked contrast between its neck and
soundbox. Legs and shell are two distinct elements, a design solution
that allows for deeper experimentation with the form. The reinterpretation
of proportions is accompanied by an in-depth study of vertical stacking,
optimised both functionally and aesthetically. In the version with arm-
rests, the chair gains a particularly recognisable presence thanks to the
fluidity of their profile. The shell is also available in an upholstered and
fabric-covered version, with or without armrests, which sits perfectly
even in sophisticated indoor settings. Exemplifying S•CAB’s commitment
to sustainability, Liuta is made from regenerated and recyclable plastic.
(It) Liuta reinterpreta in chiave contemporanea la tipologia della sedia da
giardino in plastica monoblocco: dell’archetipo mantiene l’impilaggio
verticale, ridefinendo tutto il resto. Fulcro di questa rilettura è il contrasto
tra un’ampia seduta dalle linee morbide e uno schienale stretto e geo-
metrico – da cui il nome Liuta, un riferimento al liuto, antico strumento
musicale caratterizzato dal marcato contrasto tra il manico e la cassa
armonica. Gambe e scocca sono due elementi distinti, una soluzione
progettuale che consente di approfondire la sperimentazione sul disegno.
La rilettura delle proporzioni si accompagna ad uno studio approfondito
sull’impilaggio verticale, ottimizzato nella funzionalità come nell’estetica.
Nella versione con braccioli, la sedia acquisisce una presenza particolar-
mente riconoscibile grazie alla fluidità del loro profilo. La scocca è di-
sponibile anche in una versione imbottita e rivestita in tessuto, con e
senza braccioli, che si inserisce perfettamente anche in ambienti indoor
sofisticati. Esemplificazione dell’impegno di S•CAB verso la sostenibilità,
Liuta è realizzata in plastica rigenerata e riciclabile.
