The Rizatto collection is designed by internationally renow-
ned lighting designer Paolo Rizatto.
Paolo Rizzatto was born in Milan in 1941, where he studied
for his degree in architecture at Milan Polytechnic in 1965,
when he was 24.
He founded Luceplan together with Riccardo Sarfatti in 1978.
He has also designed for Alias, Arteluce, Artemide, Cassi-
na, Danese, Driade, Flos, Kartell, Knoll, Lensvelt, Luceplan,
Molteni, Montina, Nemo, Philips, Poltrona Frau, Serralunga
and Thonet. His architecture and design projects form part
of permanent exhibitions and numerous museums: archi-
tectural associations in London, Milano Triennale, Wave Hill
Museum Centre in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in
New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Rizzatto works as a freelancer in the fields of architecture,
interiors, design, lighting and teaching.
With a long and distinguished career in the field of lighting
and a fascination for chandeliers, Paolo Rizatto is the per-
fect match for Nuura’s ambition to spread light and joy. His
encounter with Nuura took place after three coincidences;
the sale of Luceplan, his admiration of Poul Henningsen
and a telephone call from Paolo Rizatto’s daughter in New
York, who’d met a friend who introduced her to Nuura. After
a pleasant chat with Creative Director, Sofie Refer, about the
fascination for chandeliers that they share and their under-
standing of lighting, Paolo began working on the new collec-
tion taking his inspiration from Oskar Schlemmer’s ‘Triadis-
chen Ballett’ from 1924.
Nuura takes its inspiration from the Nordic design tradition,
based on simplicity combined with respect for nature and
the environment. The objective is to create aesthetic design
that spreads quality lighting.
