TECK
qualitativi (First European Quality) che etici.
A very precious and expensive timber, Teak is obtained from the Tectona grandis tree, a plant typical of the tropical and
subtropical countries of South and South-East Asia. The wood can feature different veins and shades of colour, ranging from
brown to dark grey. The chromatic variations distinguish it in terms of naturalness and value. Thanks to its high resistance
to varying weather conditions and temperature variations, as well as to insects and plant pests, such as fungi and moulds,
it is considered the best wood for outdoor use. For its collections, Minotti uses the most exquisite Burmese Teak, which
is certified both quality-wise (First European Quality) and ethically-wise. It has the peculiarity of containing natural oily
substances that, even without a preservative treatment, render it exceptionally resistant to water and humidity. The Teak
changes colour naturally over time, going from reddish brown to grey-silver. The process of “silvering” can be slowed down
by applying a coat of Teak Oil every two months, thus preserving the appearance of the freshly cut wood. Furthermore, a Teak
Oil treatment used twice a year is sufficient to protect the timber from external agents. The ideal setting recommended by
Minotti for all the products in the Lifescape Collection is covered or partially-covered verandas or terraces. To improve the
life of Teak products, Minotti suggests covering them with the special Rain Cover covers.

LEGNO IROKO | IROKO WOOD
lavorata in modo accurato.
è in verande e terrazzi coperti e semi-coperti.
The Iroko is a very large tree native to central Africa. It is a precious wood that requires careful processing.
In addition to being sturdy, it is also naturally water-resistant, thanks to its high tannin content. Aging is a natural and
fairly rapid process and tends to make iroko wood more homogeneous over time. Like most kinds of wood, iroko does
not have uniform color and veining. Thus, it’s possible to find nuances of color that are not perfectly harmonious.
This should not be considered a defect in the material but rather a valuable asset of solid wood. Given its exposure
to the sun and the aging process, the initial shade of color can have noticeable differences depending on geo-graphic
location. The color and finish applied by Minotti bring out the inherent properties of the material and make it even
more suitable for outdoor use. To this end, a UV protective, weather-resistant varnish is applied, with a satin finish
(35% gloss). Specifically, the surface treat-ment carried out by Minotti is intended to slow down the natural chromatic
evolution of the wood from a yellow-tawny brown to dark brown, almost coffee. The “Dark Brown” iroko heartwood is stained
in a dark shade of brown. Solid iroko is easy to maintain; use a damp cloth to remove soil and dry with a soft cloth.
The ideal setting recommended by Minotti for all the products in the Lifescape Collection is covered or partially-covered
verandas or terraces. To improve the life of iroko products, Minotti suggests covering them with the special Rain Cover covers,
made of a special water-proof fabric that is also anti-fungal and anti-bacterial.
