Originally created for an exhibition in Bad Arolsen, Germany, in 1992, Puppy
is one of Jeff Koons’ most iconic works: a 13-meter-tall floral sculpture of a West
Highland Terrier, inspired by 18th-century formal garden topiaries. Combining
advanced 3D modeling and structural engineering, Koons reimagined the
traditional art form to convey a sense of optimism, security, and joy.
In 1998, Puppy was reissued as a limited edition of 3,000 pieces in white glazed
porcelain, produced by Porcellane C. Villari in collaboration with art publisher
Art of this Century. This collectible version captures the charm and visual impact
of the original, embodying Koons’s distinctive blend of pop culture, technical
precision, and accessible luxury.
