____ The Bauhaus (1919-1933) is a great resurgent karst river,
at different times and in different ways, in the design culture
when you least expect it, because it belongs to that particular
modern movement from which none of us can do without,
both in the development of those principles and in the close
confrontation that can also lead to its rejection.
Bauhaus contains the best of our European culture, which
later spread all over the world, I believe above all because
of the central idea behind that experience: art and research
at the centre, around all those disciplines that represent our
vision of the world: graphics, design, fashion, communication,
architecture.
Zalf, part of the Euromobil Group founded and led by the
Lucchetta brothers, and its art director, Roberto Gobbo, have
been pursuing this daily confrontation for many years, the
results of which can be found in the company's products.
The installation SpaceMakers-Magic Room, hosted in the
Brera Contract space on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile
in Milan 2023, narrates the new collection through the cladding
of two full-height walls, using both colour research and Bauhaus
compositional philosophy, all realised with Zalf furniture
systems. On the ceiling, a mirrored cladding brings us to an
infinite visual reference. Compositional functionality, rationality
and simplification in production engineering: light from the
outside dialogues with Delta Light's interior luminaires,
designed by Rem Koolhaas.
As the founder of the Bauhaus, Walter Gropius, wrote,
“specialists are people who always repeat the same mistakes”;
freedom and artistic research at the heart of every project.
Each of us is a protagonist of the space we live in, reinventing
it every day, as if it were a magic room.
