Our aim is to create well-being through light. In close
collaboration with leading architects and design-
ers, Wästberg creates innovative, durable, environmen-
tally conscious lighting that can be produced econom-
ically. Lighting that meets fundamental human needs,
both physical and emotional, and adapts to these needs
as they evolve and shift.
In our 2008 manifesto, “Lamps for Neanderthal Man”,
we pointed out man’s primitive connection to light which
originates from our relationship with fire. For over a
million years, fire was our only light source. It frightened
off wild animals, brought us together, kept us warm and
protected us. Above all, it gave us light that we could
carry with us and that we could control.
Technology and innovation are at the heart of what we
do and are crucial to providing good light. However,
we understand that what is technically possible is not
always what people need. To us, true innovation means
making the effort to find the best possible balance of
the measurable and the immeasurable.
