Jean-Marie Massaud and Vondom once
again combine talent and creative vision
with Pasadena, a proposal that embraces
the outdoors (and not only the outdoors)
with a touch of serenity and well-balanced
shapes. Its author, fascinated by the idea
of giving a new reading to the most iconic
sofas, wanted to add an almost sculptural
nuance, but without renouncing the warmth
that so identifies Vondom's hallmark.
‘The ambition of Pasadena is to take an
archetype and transform it into something
of architectural proportions, but with a large
dose of comfort’, explains Massaud. But
Pasadena goes one step further: its secret
lies in the perfect balance between soft
profiles, lightness of line and a comfort that
can be felt even before sitting down. ‘This
balance is the key to timelessness,’ says the
designer.
The connection between Vondom and
Jean-Marie Massaud is strengthened
with Pasadena, a family of pieces -a bar
stool, modular sofa, side table and sun
lounger- that rescues that formal restraint
associated with the most iconic designs,
though it goes further in the search for

Materials: aluminium, fabric and concrete
as ‘sensuality and generosity in the profiles,
nothing exaggerated’. This duality between
refined lines and an enveloping welcome
is perceived at all angles, creating an
atmosphere very close to the interior,
but with the resistance demanded by life
outdoors.
Using Vondom's previous experience with
technical materials and weatherproof foams,
the study of each element has made it
possible to achieve a restful atmosphere
similar to that of an enclosed space, without
sacrificing the freshness of the outdoors.
With this creation, Jean-Marie Massaud
unfolds a serene and joyful universe, where
comfort does not sacrifice aesthetics, nor
