The Eames Tables collection consists of two different product lines – Contract Tables (1950) and Segmented Tables (1964). Both include complete tables in defined sizes. The design principle of the Segmented Table makes it possible to realise individual table configurations in various forms and sizes. The design of the table bases establishes an affinity to the form of the Aluminium Group, but it also harmonises with a wide range of other chair forms.
The Segmented Tables system offers a broad range of different sizes and applications – from tables for oneon-one discussions to large tables or table configurations for conference rooms. The table tops are rectangular, round or oval and are made in a variety of materials with a variety of finishes; coated in white laminate, in natural beech, or in veneered Swiss pear.
The modular design of the base of the Segmented Tables permits the construction of tables of various sizes. The number of aluminium base elements depends on the size of the table top. Base pairs are linked by strong connecting elements made of black steel. While the contrasting materials serve to emphasise the modular character of the base, the table tops form a unified surface.
