COnFEREnCE AnD VIsITORs CHAIRs
In 2010, the swiss Federal Institute of Technology
Zurich (ETH) conducted a study on the degree to which
pressure to the spine can be relieved by alternating
sitting positions. The results show that shifting between
the various sitting positions – i.e. between an upright,
a reclining and a forward-tilting position – sets all
segments of the lower spine in motion. This both relieves
pressure on and increases the nutrient supply
to the intervertebral discs. Tip Ton’s special geometry
encourages the user to alternate between the above
sitting positions. Moreover, whereas in the past the
health benefits of relieving the intervertebral discs
where reserved for office chairs, Tip Ton allows users
to profit from these benefits in an array of different
environments.
