Panton designed the “3-D carpet” for Bayer’s
Visiona 2 exhibition at the 1970 Cologne
furniture fair.
A seating and lounge landscape of elongated
wave-like foam segments (Welle a.o.), whose
fleecy covering made it seem as if the carpeting
had heaved itself up to make the forms.
The long pile of the covering was reminiscent of
a lawn, yet the red color made it look exotic and
erotic.
