A contemporary re-interpretation of the “French mirror”, DUCHESSE follows the tradition of large pediment mirrors recognized for their intricate embellishments consisting of a multitude of glass elements finely cut, overlaid, and applied to carved wood. The DUCHESSE moves away from the intricate towards a minimal, delicate translation with a bit of a twist. The innovation of this new design is established by the inversion of the classic pediment incorporating the traditional French design into the mirror and further emphasizing its details by leaving the negative spaces open.
