Like a precious antique, richly suggestive of bygone
eras, a luxurious billiard table in beautifully inlaid
exotic wood exudes the stylish elegance associated
with the age of the Enlightenment.
The game of billiards originated in the 18th
century as a leisure activity for the intellectual and
moneyed elite; at that time every castle and noble
home boasted a room dedicated to the practice of
this exclusive sport. In the early part of the 20th
century, however, billiards lost its elite appeal and
began to find favour in bar rooms and cafes. In
this environment, as could be expected, highly

become a desirable possession, taking pride of
place as an item of furniture in private homes.
