C’era una volta una brioche. Calda di forno,
morbida, profumata. La designer Beatriz Sempere ne è rimasta in-
cantata e ha trasformato la sua meraviglia in una piccola collezione
di poltrone e pouf per Twils. Brioche è il risultato: una poltrona e un
pouf che portano il concetto di comfort ai suoi estremi formali.
Brioche è un progetto semplice: una poltro-
na che innegabilmente ricorda i colori e le forme di uno dei più
amati comfort food del mondo. La stessa seducente morbidezza,
le stesse tonalità dorate. Oltre all’ironica seduzione sensoriale c’è
il gusto tutto spagnolo per l’esagerazione visiva. La stessa misura
che Almodovar mette nelle scenografie dei suoi film surreali, lo
stesso amore per l’estetica sfacciata degli anni Settanta. Il piace-
re di esaltare il materiale con un tratto volutamente lussureggian-
te, ricco, vagamente esagerato.

Once upon a time, there was a brioche. It was
freshly baked, soft and fragrant. It cast a spell on designer Beatriz
Sempere, who turned her sense of wonder into a small armchair
and footstool collection for Twils. Brioche is its name and it con-
tains an armchair and a footstool with shapes that are the ulti-
mate embodiment of comfort.
The Brioche design is simple: the armchair un-
deniably calls to mind the shapes and colours of one of the most
beloved comfort foods in the world, with the same enticing softness
and the same golden hues. In addition to ironic sensory allure, it is
steeped in the quintessentially Spanish taste for visual extrava-
gance. It is as unrestrained as the sets of Almodovar’s surreal films
and reveals a 1970s-style fondness for bold aesthetics. The design-
er took pleasure in bringing out the best of the material with inten-
tionally flamboyant, lavish and slightly over the top forms.
