Stephen Roberts starts Turnstyle Designs working out
of a 16th Century, unheated cobb barn in North Devon.
Sales via craft shows and mail order brochure. First
range of six “Natural “ Amalfine door knobs including
“Frog on a knob “ and “Ammonite”.
1994
Introduced cabinet knobs and light pulls,
starts selling wholesale to UK independent
retailers win first large contract with John
Lewis (UK department store group).
Purchase and move to
large disused village
stores in Bishops Tawton.

fittings introduced.

1998
Introduced brass and timber to join
AmalfineTM, and start to combine
materials. Range expands to door
levers, pulls and more cabinet handles.
1999
Set up USA distribution and open up dealers
throughout the USA.
Win The Daily Telegrah business of the year award.
2000
Build purpose built factory,
warehouse and offices in Barnstaple,
North Devon, England.
First website was launched
2001
Start distributing direct to USA.
First range of leather cabinet
handles introduced.
2002
Build second factory expansion.
2010
Open USA Subsidiary and
sales office in Manchester,
Vermont.

Showroom opens in London’s
world famous Chelsea Harbour.

Made in North Devon Awards,
35 Employees, Launch of new website.
25 Years Celebrations in London,
New York and Devon.
Fully configurable
website built, move to
new London showroom.
Two years of restrictions do not
