‘The BEAT lamps marked one of our earliest successes, featuring hand-hammered
brass and an unexpected blend of craft detailing. Fast forward 20 years, and
despite their enduring popularity, they have become one of the most widely
imitated products, available in large quantities from online resellers in a
thinly and poorly finished alloy.
Determined to combat these imitations, we embarked on a novel initiative.
Introducing the UNBEATEN, our new version presents two high-quality
manufacturing stories. The UNBEATEN showcases hand-spun and hand-brushed
aluminium, while the original BEAT emphasizes the exceptional and rapidly
disappearing handicraft skills of the metalworkers of Moradabad.
With thicker metal, superior illumination and electrical components compared
to the copies, the UNBEATEN celebrates the raw state of aluminium, exhibiting its
materiality in its naked form.’
