La terracotta è stato il primo materiale utilizzato per
la pavimentazione nella storia dell’uomo e ancora
oggi conserva il suo fascino grazie all’opera dei
maestri ceramisti che ne tramandano la tradizione. La
lavorazione delle tavelle di terracotta avviene interamente
manualmente curando ogni piccolo dettaglio del processo:
dalla scelta della materia prima all’essicazione effettuata
naturalmente fino alla smaltatura e alla cottura che dà
origine ad un manufatto le cui imperfezioni nella forma e
nella
superficie
non
rappresentano
tanto
difetti
quanto piuttosto un valore aggiunto del materiale
che lo differenzia dal prodotto realizzato in serie o
genericamente denominato “industriale”. Lo smalto viene
infatti assorbito in maniera completamente diversa a
seconda della porosità del materiale creando ogni volta
pezzi diversi l’uno dall’altro. Sorprende l’accostamento tra
i diversi colori della palette, che permette gli accostamenti
più creativi.
Terracotta was the first material used for flooring in

the work of the master potters who pass on its tradition.
The processing of terracotta tiles takes place entirely
manually, taking care of every little detail of the process:
from the choice of the raw material to the drying carried
out naturally up to the glazing and firing that gives rise to
an artifact whose imperfections in shape and surface do
not represent so much defects. rather an added value of the
material that differentiates it from the product produced
in series or generically referred to as “industrial”. The
enamel is in fact absorbed in a completely different
way depending on the porosity of the material, creating
different pieces each time. The matching between the
different colors of the palette is surprising, allowing the
most creative combinations.
