La parola chiave é “esperienza”. Il modernismo
respinge ogni nostalgia etichettandola come
kitsch; ma é proprio il sentimentalismo vecchio
stile che oggi nutre musica, cinema, arte e
design: e si chiama ancora romanticismo ciò
che torna a scorrere nei centri nevralgici della
nostra esistenza. Ascoltare la malinconia, il
dubbio, l’eccentricità, l’insoddisfazione dinanzi
al meccanismo ripetitivo della vita cosiddetta
normale e desiderare di riunirsi alle forze
della natura, fino quasi ad esserne assorbiti.
Ma anche voglia di un nuovo umanitarismo,
di ideali e di integrità: desiderio di qualcosa
di più libero, personale ed esotico. Questi
tappeti hanno l’anima dello swing che si ballava
cinquant’anni fa: ritmi esuberanti delle band che
suonano dal vivo e la fisicità di ballare in coppia
con un partner da stringere e abbracciare con
sensualità.
The key word is “experience”. Modernism rejects
any kind of nostalgia, labelling it as kitsch; but
it is this old-fashioned sentimentalism that
today nourishes music, cinema, art and design;
and it is still called romanticism that which
flows once again in the nerve centres of our
existence. To listen, gloom, doubt, eccentricity,
dissatisfaction before the repetitive mechanism
of so-called normal life and desire to unite
oneself with the forces of nature, almost to the
point of being absorbed by it.
But also longing for new humanitarianism,
ideals and integrity: the desire for something
more free, personal and exotic.
These rugs have the spirit of swing being
danced fifty years ago: nifty rhythms of the
bands that play live and the physical substance
of dancing in pairs with a partner to hold and
grasp sensually.
