L’esperienza di vita di una persona
è contaminata dal luogo in cui abita.
Così come quando si ricorda la lettura
di un libro molto spesso lo si associa al posto
in cui lo si è letto, il ricordo di una parola
rimanda al luogo dove è stata pronunciata.
Gli oggetti che possediamo ci descrivono
come il colore dei capelli e degli occhi, l’altezza.
Le case diventano le persone che qui abbiamo
incontrato e il paesaggio che vi abbiamo
contemplato, fuori e dentro noi stessi.
A person’s life experience is conta-
minated by the place in which he or she lives.
Just as when we remember a book we read
and we often associate it with the place
where we read it, the memory of a word
brings us back to the place where we uttered it.
The objects we own describe us, such
as the colour of our hair and eyes, our
height. Homes become the people we met
and the landscape we contemplated there,
outside and inside ourselves.
