Un gioco tra volumi pieni e vuoti,
un’attenta ricerca sui materiali e
sulle forme e un design che lavora per
sottrazione fi no a raggiungere il perfetto
equilibrio tra essenzialità ed eleganza.
I contenitori giorno Mi, disegnati da Neri
& Hu per Poltrona Frau, giocano con
luci, trasparenze e ombre, per celare
o svelare gli oggetti che si trovano
al loro interno. Il nome Mi è un pinyin
cinese dal duplice signifi cato che indica
sia l’azione del “cercare” ma anche la
parola “segreto” che ha ispirato questo
progetto. Nei contenitori Mi, infatti,
gli oggetti, invece di essere esposti
in bella vista, sono invece nascosti
dal guscio esterno oblungo. Li si può
scoprire solo sbirciando attraverso uno
strato di vetro temperato che chiude
l’intercapedine lasciata dai ripiani,
sopraelevati e separati dal corpo
del mobile. La superfi cie esterna dei
contenitori Mi è rivestita in cuoio Saddle
Extra, impreziosito da un’inedita texture
canneté a righe verticali che conferisce
tridimensionalità all’insieme.
Una sottile ma solida struttura in metallo
incornicia il corpo del mobile e funge
da collegamento con il piano
sopraelevato in marmo Calacatta oro
o Nero Marquinia.
La collezione Mi è composta da
tre elementi: una credenza Mi alta
a due ante, una credenza Mi bassa
a quattro ante con apertura a libro
e un trolley Mi su ruote.
A game of solids and voids, an attentive
study of materials and forms
and a design approach which operates
by subtraction until it achieves the
perfect balance between simplicity
and elegance. The Mi storage units
designed by Neri & Hu for Poltrona Frau
play around with light, shade
and transparencies to conceal or reveal
the objects they house. Mi is a Chinese
pinyin word with a dual meaning used to
express both the action of “looking” but
also the word “secret”, which inspired
this project. In fact, in the Mi storage
units, rather than being displayed in
full view the objects are hidden by the
oblong external shell. You can only
discover them by peeking through a
layer of tempered glass which closes
the space left by the shelves, raised
and separated from the body of the unit.
The external surface of the Mi storage
units is upholstered in Saddle Extra
leather, which is embellished with an
original vertical striped canneté texture
that gives the product a 3D eff ect.
A thin but solid metal structure frames
the body of the product and acts as a
link with the raised top in Calacutta
gold or Nero Marquinia marble.
The Mi collection consists of three
elements: a tall 2-door Mi cabinet,
a low 4-door Mi cabinet with book
opening, and a Mi trolley on wheels.
Un jeu entre volumes pleins et vides,
une recherche attentive sur les matières
et sur les formes et un design qui
travaille par soustraction jusqu’à
atteindre le parfait équilibre, entre
essentiel et élégance. Les espaces de
rangement jour Mi, conçus par Neri
& Hu pour Poltrona Frau, jouent avec
les lumières, les transparences et les
ombres, pour dissimuler ou révéler les
objets qui se trouvent à l’intérieur. Le
nom Mi est un pinyin chinois à double
sens qui indique à la fois l’action de
« chercher » mais aussi le mot « secret »
qui a inspiré ce projet. Dans les espaces
de rangement Mi, en eff et, les objets,
au lieu d’être exposés à la vue de tous,
sont au contraire cachés par la coque
extérieure oblongue. On ne peut les
découvrir qu’en jetant un coup d’œil à
travers une couche de verre trempé qui
ferme l’espace laissé par les étagères,
qui sont surélevées et séparées
du corps du meuble.
La surface extérieure des espaces de
rangement Mi est recouverte de cuir
Saddle Extra, orné d’une texture inédite
cannetée à rayures verticales qui donne
une tridimensionnalité à l’ensemble.
Une structure en métal fi ne mais solide
encadre le corps du meuble et sert de
lien entre le plan surélevé en marbre
Calacatta Or ou Noir Marquinia.
La collection Mi se compose de trois
éléments : Mi High Cabinet, buff et haut
à deux portes, d’un Mi Low Cabinet,
buff et bas à quatre portes accordéon
et un chariot Mi sur roulettes.
Ein Spiel zwischen vollen und leeren
Volumen, eine sorgfältige Suche nach
Material und Form und ein Design,
das mit Subtraktion arbeitet, um das
perfekte Gleichgewicht zwischen
Wesentlichkeit und Eleganz herzustellen.
Die von Neri & Hu für die neue Poltrona
Frau entworfenen Sideboards Mi spielen
mit Licht, Transparenz und Schatten,
um die darin aufbewahrten Gegenstände
zu verbergen oder den Blick darauf
freizugeben. Der Name Mi ist ein
chinesisches Pinyin mit einer doppelten
Bedeutung, die sowohl auf die Handlung
des “Suchens” als auch auf das Wort
“Geheimnis” hinweist, das dieses Projekt
inspirierte. In Mi werden die Objekte
nämlich nicht sichtbar ausgestellt,
sondern von der länglichen Außenhülle
verdeckt. Man kann sie nur entdecken,
wenn man durch eine Schicht aus
gehärtetem Glas schaut, die die Lücke
schließt, die die angehobenen und vom
Schrankkörper getrennten Einlegeböden
hinterlassen.
Die Außenseite des Sideboards Mi ist
mit Saddle Extra-Leder überzogen,
das mit einer ungewöhnlichen vertikalen
Canneté-Streifentextur versehen ist,
die dem Ganzen ein dreidimensionales
Aussehen verleiht. Eine schlanke, aber
solide Metallstruktur rahmt den Korpus
des Möbels ein und dient als Verbindung
mit der erhöhten Platte aus Calacatta
Oro- oder Nero-Marquinia-Marmor.
Die Kollektion Mi besteht aus drei
Elementen: einem hohen Sideboard
Mi mit zwei Türen, einem niedrigen
Sideboard Mi mit vier Türen mit
Faltöff nung und einem Trolley
Mi auf Rädern.
