«Through our collaboration, Poltrona Frau
has undergone a transformation from being a
furnishings brand to a lifestyle creator, launching
a wider range of products. We started with
a sign, the two simple strokes of the Chinese
word “ren”, which correspond to the pictographic
representation of the human fi gure.
We used this sign to create a collection of
products dedicated to the hallway, an environment
usually neglected in a house. We have created
a series of furniture pieces capable of serving
its users and complement traditional furniture.
Even though functionally diff erent, each piece is
composed of two “ren” parts that form the main
structure and elements with curved contours
for the secondary structure, wrapped in refi ned
leather, with brass details that add a touch of
luxury to the design. They are products that are
always up to date, because they support lifestyles
with a holistic approach to everyday life.»
Both trained in major American schools
of architecture, Lyndon Neri and Rossana
Hu founded Neri&Hu Design and Research
Offi ce in Shanghai in 2004. The studio is
made up of a multicultural team that speaks
more than thirty languages and operates
around the world providing architectural,
interior,
master
planning,
graphic
and
product design services, the latter for
high-end furniture companies. The group’s
diversity reinforces the studio’s founding
professional vision of responding to inter-
national needs through a new paradigm of
architecture that incorporates diff erent
design disciplines. Winners of the most
prestigious design awards since 2009,
Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu are actively
involved in teaching and research, and are
also founders of Design Republic, a concept
store in Shanghai that off ers a unique
collection of products created by the best
design talents from around the world.
