Arte contemporanea e tradizioni
artigianali millenarie si incontrano nei
tappeti Land. Le tele monocrome di
Ettore Spalletti dove il colore sembra
fluttuare silenzioso ispirano le semplici,
grandi campiture che attraversano i
tappeti realizzati in pura lana.
La tintura di questo filato restituisce
le tonalità straordinariamente sature e
profonde del rosso ruggine, del grigio
carbone, del blu scuro e del naturale.
Sono le sfumature della terra. Il nome
Land, infatti, allude alla speciale tecnica
di intreccio della lana utilizzata in
questi tappeti, che nell’effetto della
texture ricorda le arature dei campi viste
dall’alto. Questo antico procedimento
di tessitura a mano, chiamato Sumak,
conferisce resistenza e corposità al
tappeto. I tessitori avvolgono a due
a due i fili di trama in lana attorno ai
robusti fili di cotone che creano la
struttura, formando piccole trecce che
ritmano le superfici.
La bordatura, anch’essa in lana, è cucita
a mano attorno a tutto il tappeto, con
una accurata rifinitura.
Contemporary art and age-old handicraft
traditions come together in the Land
rugs.
These solid coloured “canvases” by
Ettore Spalletti over which colour seems
to fluctuate silently inspire the simple
large painted backgrounds that run
across the pure wool rugs. The colour
of this yarn offers up extraordinarily
saturated deep shades of rust red,
coal grey, dark blue, and nude. They
are the hues of the earth. Indeed, the
name Land alludes to the special wool-
weaving technique used for these rugs;
the resulting textural effect recalls
ploughed fields viewed from above.
This ancient hand weaving procedure
called Sumak bestows the rug with
strength and body. The weavers wrap the
woollen weft threads two by two around
robust cotton threads that create the
structure, forming small braids that mark
the rhythm of the surfaces.
The edging – also made out of wool –
is hand-woven all around the rug with
careful finishing work.

pour créer les tapis Land. Les toiles
monochromes d’Ettore Spalletti, où
la couleur semble fluctuer en silence,
inspirent les grands rechampissages
simples qui traversent ces tapis réalisés
en pure laine. La teinture de ce fil
recrée les tons extraordinairement
saturés et profonds du rouge rouille,
du gris charbon, du bleu foncé et de la
couleur naturelle. Ce sont les nuances
de la terre. En effet le nom Land évoque
la technique spéciale d’entrelacs de
la laine utilisée pour ces tapis, qui
rappelle, dans l’effet de la texture, les
sillons des champs vus d’en haut. Ce
procédé ancien de tissage à la main,
appelé Sumak, donne au tapis du
corps et de la résistance. Les tisseurs
enroulent les fils de trame de laine
deux par deux autour de fils de coton
robustes, qui créent la structure, en
formant de petites tresses qui rythment
les surfaces.
La bordure, elle aussi en laine, est
cousue à la main tout autour du tapis,
en créant une finition soignée.

Handwerkstraditionen treffen in den
Land Teppichen aufeinander. Die
monochromen Bilder von Ettore Spalletti,
bei dem die Farbe leise zu schweben
scheint, sind die Inspiration für die
einfachen, großen Grundierungen,
die die Teppiche aus reiner Wolle
überziehen.
Die Färbung dieses Garns gibt die
außerordentlich satten und tiefen
Farbtöne von Rostrot, Kohlegrau,
Tiefblau und Natur wider. Es sind die
Nuancen der Erde. So ist der Name
Land eine Anspielung auf die spezielle
Webtechnik für die Wolle bei diesen
Teppichen, die in der Wirkung der
Textur an das von oben betrachtete
Pflügen der Äcker erinnert. Diese alte
Handwebtechnik namens Sumak verleiht
dem Teppich Festigkeit und Körper. Die
Weber wickeln jeweils Schussfäden aus
Wolle um die robusten Baumwollfäden,
die die Struktur erzeugen und bilden
kleine Geflechte, die die Oberflächen
beleben.
Die Einfassung, ebenfalls aus Wolle,
wird rund um den gesamten Teppich
sorgfältig von Hand angenäht.
