Una poltrona contemporanea dal mood
sartoriale, nata dopo un lungo lavoro
di messa a punto di forme, pesi, volumi.
Punto di forza formale, il libero gioco
di pieghe sulla parte interna dello
schienale rivestito in pelle. Particolare
inatteso, l’orecchio del bracciolo,
inizialmente pensato come un bavero
di camicia, quindi immaginato come
un bottone, infi ne, lasciato così, un
po’ aperto, come la piega di un vecchio
quaderno di scuola.
Cuciture a contrasto lungo i bordi e sulle
superfi ci esterne del rivestimento danno
carattere a dorso e profi li. Un gesto
di istintiva eleganza che va a
sottolineare un disegno che rende
contemporanea la più classica poltrona
a pozzetto inglese. Il nome è facile
da pronunciare: Archibald è già icona.

possesses a certain sartorial je ne sais
quoi created by a careful fi ne-tuning
of forms, weights, and volumes.
Its formal strength is the procession
of pleats along the inner part of the
leather-upholstered back.
The unexpected detail is the ear
on the armrest, initially envisioned like
the yoke of a shirt, then as a button,
and eventually left the way it is—
somewhat open, like the dog-eared page
corners of an old school notebook.
The contrasting topstitching along
the edges and outer surface of the
upholstery give character to the chair’s
back and various profi les. Its instinctive
elegance places the emphasis on a
design philosophy that makes even
the most classic chair contemporary.
This relatively young model has a name
that rolls off the tongue, and has
already become an icon.
