Poltrona Frau’s current production methods, one
is struck by the naturalness with which the company
manages to blend artisanal and industrial processes,
creating products that look to the future,
while constantly improving the quality of materials
and workmanship that have made it famous
all around the world.
The long life and durability of each of their
products is another striking feature that is more
relevant than ever; furnishings that grandparents
have bequeathed to their grandchildren are being
sent to the company to be restored.
Wanting to contribute to designing timeless
objects, we have tried to free the Times series
from any superfl uous aesthetic mannerisms,
where durability could remain always at the center of
the focus. Each element can be disassembled
and is completely removable and washable,
in addition to being very light to facilitate shipping
and reduce the resulting pollution. These products
are created to last for decades and to be refurbished
when they get worn out.»
Born in 1982, Simone Spalvieri and Va-
lentina Del Ciotto founded their studio in
Milan in 2003. Their work, characterised by
formal and functional purity, is based on the
idea that every design product must be in-
vested with a value that contains and con-
veys some fragment of our history and cultu-
re to be handed down to future generations.
They seek to humanise new materials and
technologies through design, with the aim of
facilitating the understanding and use of the
most innovative objects. They collaborate
with some of the most interesting names in
Italian and international design. Since 2013,
they have won prestigious prizes in Europe
and even in China.
