True Heritage
Trained as architects but specialists
in industrial design, Stine Gam and Enrico
Fratesi founded their studio in Copenhagen
in 2006. GamFratesi’s designs are inspired
by the fusion of tradition and renewal, and
by an experimental approach to the ma-
terials and techniques they select. Thanks
to their dual cultural background, Gam and
Fratesi draw their inspiration from the classic
Danish furniture and craftsmanship and the
Italian intellectual and conceptual approach.
Together, they create furniture that refl ects
tradition by interpreting the unique stories,
symbols and associations that are imprinted
in memory, often represented in a minimalist
style. A fi xture on the international design
scene, GamFratesi’s products have been
recognised with some of the most renowned
awards since 2009.
Conceptual simplicity and material
richness characterise the series of modular
screens designed by GamFratesi. Plot is not
a simple dividing element, but an aperture in
the environment with a delicate play of
transparencies and chiaroscuro effects. It is
a contemporary reinterpretation of what
was a common element in the home furnish-
ings of the 1950s, which today is experiencing
a rediscovery in the “nomadic” and multi-
functional spaces of modern homes. Plot
allows you to organise and divide rooms in a
light and versatile manner, and can be com-
bined with up to four elements.
The geometric weaving and refined
textures that distinguish the design are
based on a certain compositional logic, a
principle that organises the patterns and
elements. The leather bands are all the same
size, and different patterns are created
depending on the way they are horizontally
and vertically woven. The structure is
deliberately minimalist; a simple frame to
accentuate the central panels that play both
with the circle and square, with textures of
different densities and in various colour
combinations.
