Speed, play and a modern theme
Massimo Iosa Ghini, one of the founders of Bolidism – the artistic movement launched in the 1980s by a group of young Italian architects inspired by the futuristic avant-garde- designs seating aimed more at action than rest. His pieces are dynamic, agile, the physical expression of the concepts upon which Bolidist thought is based. Movement, light, action, not looking back to the avant-garde of the past but a contemporary reinterpretation of speed, of the shift from being a mechanical society to an electronic, digital one, of communicative and symbolic simultaneity. “Bolidists regard the future, in the fact that it is not yet present, as being equal to but more interesting than the past”.
