Folk tradition meets industrial design
Decoration and practicality, identity and memory. Through the sofa, an ideal world comes alive with memories of sitting rooms filled with the smell of Turkish coffee, jambolje embroidery (hairy wool blankets), and an endless number of hand-made cloths and doilies covering every surface. A sofa on the ‘border’ between folk tradition, from which it takes its spontaneous, practical simplicity, and industrial design, from which it takes rationality and quality of materials. The design is restrained with a light, square frame which embraces the seat and back cushions. The cushion cover, inspired by traditional Bosnian design, is not merely a covering but rather clothing which expresses, in its domestic intimacy, a world and way-of-being.
