Patricia Urquiola
è nata ad Oviedo, Spagna
e vive e lavora a Milano.
Ha frequentato la facoltà
di architettura presso
il Politecnico di Madrid
e il Politecnico di Milano,
dando la tesi di laurea
con Achille Castiglioni.
Tra il 1990 e il 1996 stata
responsabile del centro
ricerche di De Padova
collaborando con
Vico Magistretti.
Dal 1993 al 1996 ha fondato
uno studio di architettura
associato progettando
showrooms, ristoranti,
negozi e progetti residenziali.
Dal 1996 al 2001 ha diretto
il gruppo design presso
lo Studio Lissoni Associati.
Nel 2001 ha aperto il proprio
Studio di design industriale,
architettura, installazioni
e concept creation.
Tra i riconoscimenti ottenuti:
ADI Design Index,
International Design Yearbook,
IMM Cologne Award, Good Design
Awards del Chicago Athenaeum,
Red Dot Award.
È stata nominata designer
dell’anno per Elle Decoration
International Design Awards
e dalla rivista Wallpaper.
È stata editor del International
Design Yearbook 2007.
I suoi progetti poltrona e
pouff Fjord per Moroso
e la lampada Bague per
Foscarini sono presenti
nella collezione permanente
del museo MoMA di New York.
Patricia Urquiola was born
in Oviedo, Spain and now lives

Between 1990 and 1996
she was responsible for
the new product development
office of De Padova working
with Vico Magistretti.
From 1993 to 1996 she had
an associate practice engaged
in architectural design
of showrooms, restaurants,
shops and residential projects.
From1996 to 2001 she directed
Lissoni Associati design team.
In 2001 she opens her own
Studio working on product
design, architecture,
installations and concept
creation.
She has been selected and
has won various prizes among
others ADI Design Index, the
International Design Yearbook,
IMM Cologne Award, Good Design
Awards of the Chicago
Athenaeum, Red Dot Award.
Among the different personal
exhibitions: Ideal House,
IMM Cologne; Casa Pasarela,
Madrid, Spain; Abitare il Tempo,
Verona, Italy.
She has been nominated
designer of the year for
Elle Decoration International
Design Awards and Wallpaper
magazine.
Editor of the International
Design Yearbook 2007.
Her products Fjord Armchair
and Foot Stool by Moroso
and Bague Lamp by Foscarini
are present in the permanent
collection of MoMA, NY.
