Più sai e più ti accorgi di non sapere, ma tra ciò che conosciamo e quello
che vorremmo conoscere c’è un ponte chiamato curiosità. La curiosità dei
bambini è grande e irrefrenabile, non ha limiti e non ha confini, spazia tra
realtà differenti e cambia a seconda delle età. Ma è spontanea e naturale e
fa parte del loro bisogno di crescere. Per questo agli adulti spetta il compito
di soddisfare questa sete di conoscenza per condurre i bambini verso
l’apprendimento. La parola chiave è emozione: quel sentimento positivo
che scuote la mente e stimola la conoscenza. I genitori, innanzitutto,
possono fare tanto per stimolare la curiosità dei più piccoli, per aiutarli a
imparare cose nuove e a fare esperienze mai fatte. Anche la scuola ha un
ruolo molto importante per alimentare la curiosità dei bambini attraverso
alcune piccole attività, per portarli a ragionare, osservare, analizzare,
sperimentare e prendere le giuste decisioni. Per stimolare la curiosità e per
trasformarla in creatività utile allo sviluppo cognitivo, anche il gioco ha la
sua funzione importante. Un bambino curioso sarà un adulto intelligente,
autonomo e capace di scegliere.
The more you know, the more you realise you don’t know, but
between what we know and what we would like to know there is a bridge
called curiosity. Children’s curiosity is great and irrepressible; it has no
limits or boundaries; it ranges between different realities, and changes
according to age. But it is spontaneous, natural and part of their need
to grow. That is why adults have the task of satisfying this thirst for
knowledge to lead children towards learning. The key word is emotion:
that positive feeling that shakes the mind and stimulates knowledge.
Parents, first and foremost, can do a lot to stimulate the curiosity of
younger children, to help them learn new things and experience things
they have never experienced before. School also has a very important
role to play in nurturing children’s curiosity through a number of small
activities, to get them to reason, observe, analyse, experiment and make
the right decisions. Play also has its important function, to stimulate
curiosity and to turn it into creativity that can be used for cognitive
development. A curious child will be an intelligent, autonomous and
capable adult.
