The basic idea for LP Circle sprang
from the designer’s experience with
OreLED, a fixture installed at Ørestad
School near Copenhagen. Mikkel
Beedholm, an architect at KHR
arkitekter, explains:
“The aim was for the fixture to not
simply slice through the ceiling like a
tin can – we wanted the collar to give
the fixture character and interplay with
the building’s architecture. The fixture
would thus add an extra dimension to
the interior through the collar’s
randomised reflection of the light.”
Normally, it is not possible to choose
colours for downlight fixtures, but LP
Circle is an exception in this respect.
Mikkel Beedholm says: “It has not
happened by chance. The coloured
rings help to reduce glare while
highlighting the shape of the lamp.
They also add a dash of colour to what
are often colourless rooms, both in
their lit and unlit states.”
