Direct light vs. reflected light
Why choose fixtures with direct LED?
• High efficiency
• Precise distribution of light
• Selection of different light distributions
• Smaller light engine for slimmer design.
Contrast reducing elements
In LP Capsule there are three contrast reducing
layers between the LED and the dark night sky.
Reflector
The reflector redirects a small portion of the
light softening the shadows on the ground, but
also it creates a horizontal element with a lower
luminance than the LEDs. This is the first step
in the transition.
Diffuser
The opal diffuser positioned on the outside of
the reflector catches some of the light creating
a soft glow with a low comfortable luminance
The top diffuser adds the final layer with
a subtle glow defining the top of the fixture.
Reflected light
Diffused light
Direct light
In outdoor lighting it is important to ensure
contrast reducing elements.
The luminous intensity of the light source
stands out in high contrast to the black sky
in the background. To ensure comfort and
improve a sense of safety it is important to
reduce the contrast.
We work with different ways of reducing the
contrast and offer post tops with either
reflected light or direct light – depending on
the application needs.
