Italian rug company Loloey turns architect and designer Matteo Thun’s personal
watercolors into carpets, for both residential and hospitality uses. Herbs, watermelons,
berries and agave take center stage in this joyful collection. Seamless patterns
performing motifs of nature and herbs are converted into exquisite rugs composed from
natural elements such as wool, bamboo-silk and linen. The contract version includes
wall-to-wall versions made from wool and synthetic threads.
After studies with Oskar Kokoschka and at the Architecture University of Florence,
Matteo Thun co-founded ‘Memphis’ group in Milan in 1981 with Ettore Sottsass. In
1984 he opened his own studio in Milan, in 2001 he founded Matteo Thun + Partners.
Specialized in the various segments of hospitality, with a special focus on botanical
architecture, on luxury hotels and residences with character, the practice highlights
simplicity and functionality that generate timeless and iconic design, away from being
solely visual or zeitgeisty.
The passion for craftsmanship inspired Matteo Thun to create Matteo Thun Atelier, a
platform of customized furniture for residential and hospitality projects. Matteo Thun
Atelier wants to share the experience from architecture and design with the knowledge
of craftsman’s companies from Italy.
