INTERVIEW
_How would you describe your way of making art?
Using memory for what regards the image and the personal experience. I am interested in recovering different
materials (fabric, wood, photography) and revisiting them from a poetic point of view.
_Your works contain and describe aspects of your life, try to represent your past, or to capture
moments of everyday life?
In most of the cases my works enclose memory situations that from photography I rework pictorially trough the
transposition, in a poetic point of view, onto canvas. I used for example photos of my childhood, pictures of
holidays in Rimini with my parents, rather than a trip to Longarone with my first girlfriend or a picture of my
great-grandfather who was the director of the “Scala” in Venice or my father who was Spitfire pilot, making
these everyday situations in pictorial key to revive these images lost in time.
I also like writing sentences on my works.
_These phrases are linked to your experience, at the time you are describing?
Not necessarily, I try to describe the thoughts I have inside in order to pass them on over time, and to leave a
sign of my passage. It is a manner to describe the way I see things and to analyze the actual situation when I
create my paintings.
_How and when have you started your career?
Around the age of 16 I discovered the art of painting. I started painting pictures for interior decoration and I
was proposing my work to the wood furniture factories near home. I used to pick up my bicycle, loaded with the
paintings, and I tried to sell them at the furniture shop.
_Where are your works exhibited?
Private collections, foundations, museums, for example in Madrid, London or Berlin. There are records of my
works in art books where I am recognized as a painter of XX century. (e.g.: ed. Editions Electa Mondadori
publishing house specializing in books on art, architecture, photography, design (www.electaweb.it)
_How do you consider the art market?
It is a very difficult area. We must move continuously since it is important to propose ourselves. The sector is very
limited, I aim only to work at the top level of the market, and I continue to do installations and exhibitions,
for example, I am now exhibiting in Bologna and Reggio Emilia. It is important to use every means, even the
technological ones such as the web or Skype.
_ What was your toughest work?
There are no difficult works. It is just fun and passion. A continuing challenge. I do the job that I like, this is
the secret. Happiness is to do what you like, this is my wealth.
