kreon is renowned primarily for its production of recessed
lighting fixtures, which are discreetly integrated into
ceilings, walls, or floors. These luminaires are designed
to remain inconspicuous, blending seamlessly with the
architectural surroundings.
However, with the introduction of kreon kagi, kreon has
taken a divergent approach. The kreon kagi series is
characterized by its extroverted nature, deliberately
asserting itself within the architectural space. In
architecture, extrovert elements can be exemplified by
supportive structures or tensioned beams, which often
possess a distinct aesthetic appeal, particularly in
older industrial buildings. These structures, once merely
functional, were elevated to a decorative status during
the Bauhaus era in the 1920s and 1930s.
Today, we witness a resurgence of this concept—bold
structures that intrude upon the architectural space while
simultaneously serving as carriers for lighting fixtures.
The synergy between these structural elements and
lighting fixtures is a novel development. This concept
of combining structural elements with lighting was
originally conceived in the 1920s and 1930s.
Furthermore, our inspiration for kreon kagi stems from
the world of art. Artists such as Dan Flavin and Keith
Sonnier recognized the power of lines within architecture,
employing light as their medium. They created luminous
lines that became integral parts of their artistic
expressions.
Drawing from these influences—intruding structures and
continuous light—we envision lighting fixtures in terms
of dimensional light sources. For the kreon kagi series,
we specifically refer to the T8 and T5 lamps, which have
established proportions within the realm of architecture.
By incorporating these well-known lamp formats, we aim
to create lighting fixtures that harmoniously integrate
with architectural spaces while making a bold design
statement.
