Ethics of use
The only intention of circadian lighting should be enhancing
peoples’ well-being, health, comfort and autonomy. It
should never be utilized to manipulate individuals, to increase
their productivity, concentration or to extend working hours to
their detriment.
There is a need for more studies on how humans respond
to dynamic light exposure in the ‘real world’ where light
intensity, duration, spectral quality and exposure time vary
greatly. Defining these parameters better will allow the
development of more artificial lighting systems to enhance the
human circadian rhythm.
