As the eye’s lens becomes less transparent with age, the amount
of light that reaches the retina is reduced. The eye yellows and
receives less blue spectrum light with age.
Young people don’t need much blue light due to retina
transmission, while older people need more photons in the
blue part of the spectrum due to the lower transmittance of
the lens.
