It is not easy to define when the first umbrellas were born, but they were already used in the Far East more than 5000 years ago. The history of umbrellas as a means of protection from the sun instead of the rain, dates back to Egypt in the Middle Kingdom where use was allowed only to noblemen. They were then brought to Europe in Roman times, and then after a long period of abandonment, finally they reappeared in the Italy of the Risorgimento and then distributed throughout the continent. Over the centuries, this tool has become in today's Parasols, technologically developed materials and able to meet the aesthetic and functional outdoor requirements both for private and contract use.
