Degree of protection
Classification of fittings
The resistance offered by the fixture
to the penetration of solids and
liquids is indicated by the IP prefix
(International Protection) followed
by two numbers. The first number
identifies the degree of protection
against the ingress of solids and
the second number against liquids
(IEC 529 - EN 60529 publication).
The letters IK indicate the level of
shock resistance of the luminaire,
according to CEI EN 50102.

Classification of fittings
according to electrical
protection.
Class I
With functional insulation
in every part and with
earth terminal or clamp
if the unit is fixed, or with
electric power supply
cable complete with
earth wires and relative
plug with earth contact if
the unit is mobile.
Class II
With double insulation
and/or reinforced
insulation in every
part and without earth
connections.
Class III
Designed for connecting
to low voltage circuits,
without any internal
or external circuit
functioning at a voltage
different from safety low
voltage.
Classification of fittings
according to the flammability of
the surfaces used for installation.
The fitting can be
installed on normally
flammable surfaces.
Class III products:
performances are assured
only when using the
electronic power supply
units and drivers indicated
in the catalogue.
