STANDARDS & ACCREDITATIONS
Heathfield and Co is a member of The Lighting Association Code of Practice Accreditation Scheme.
This means that every lamp we produce is tested to the standards set out by this scheme, and we are
happy to supply a Declaration of Conformity to confirm that all of our products have been manufactured
in accordance with current safety regulations. In addition every lamp will have a CE Mark (compliance
label) with our name and the date of testing attached.
The UK and European standards for lighting are contained within EN60598 and we are able to meet the
standards of other countries including UL standards (USA and Canada) and SASO (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).
LAMPSHADES
To specify your required shade you will need to consider the style, size, outside material and lining -
this can be PVC or fabric. Material swatches are available – please contact us for samples.

PLUGS
We are able to supply our products with a wide range of plugs suitable for most applications worldwide.
LIGHTBULBS OR LAMPS
FLUORESCENT lamps (or bulbs) are an efficient source of light (typically a 23watt fluorescent lamp = 100watt Incandescent lamp
for light output) and last up to 10,000 hours. Smaller Compact Fluorescent (CFL) lamps are suitable for most decorative lighting
applications and may be used to meet requirements under Building Regulations part L. They are now available in “warm white” and
similar sizes to standard candle, golf ball, GLS and other shapes.
HALOGEN lamps are approximately 25% more energy efficient than Incandescent lamps, with good light output
and offer a very close replacement in terms of overall size and suitability to be used with decorative lighting.
LED lamps are low wattage low maintenance alternatives for decorative lighting although high initial costs may deter some people.
DIMMING LAMPS
Mains voltage Halogen lamps can be dimmed simply with most standard dimming systems. Generally CFL
lamps are not dimmable although a few can be dimmed with very specific dimmers though often without the
characteristics of a dimmable Halogen or Incandescent lamp.
