Convenient wireless control of building technology with Gira KNX RF
Gira KNX RF is an easy way to increase building technology operating convenience at any
time in buildings with an existing KNX system. “KNX RF” stands for “KNX radio frequency” –
i.e. KNX via a wireless signal. With little time or effort and without noise and dust, new
options for wirelessly controlling lights, blinds, scenes, etc. can now be installed anywhere
in the home. In a renovated old building or in a completely new one, operating stations can
be created where no cables can be laid or where no switches are available. Gira KNX RF
uses the universal KNX Standard “KNX RF1.R S-Mode”, which means that all KNX products
available on the market can be integrated into it. Hand-held transmitters and pushbutton
sensors are available to operate the system.
Access to the entire KNX system via the KNX RF data interface
(USB stick)
The entire KNX system, including KNX TP products, can also be put
into operation and maintained wirelessly using the Gira KNX RF data
interface (USB stick). The interface lets users access the KNX installation
from their PC or laptop – for addressing, programming and diagnosis
via ETS 5 or for operation with the appropriate PC tools. Communication
between the PC and KNX installation is established via a wireless signal
(a Gira KNX RF/TP media coupler or RF repeater in the KNX system is
required for this).
Gira KNX RF pushbutton sensors
The Gira KNX RF pushbutton sensors are battery-operated, meaning
that operating points can be attached anywhere and, if necessary,
simply moved again. Not only can they be fixed to walls made from stone,
concrete or wood, but Gira KNX RF pushbutton sensors can also be
easily attached to smooth or even transparent surfaces such as glass
doors, window panes and furniture surfaces using an additional
mounting plate.
Gira KNX RF hand-held transmitter
Gira KNX RF hand-held transmitters enable convenient operation of
the building control system from a desk or sofa. Several lights or blinds
can also be controlled simultaneously or integrated into scenes using
the Gira KNX RF operating devices.
Gira KNX RF/ TP media coupler or RF repeater
The Gira KNX RF/TP media coupler is used to establish a link with the
KNX TP system (“TP” stands for “twisted pair”, i.e. components that
communicate via the green bus cable). This eliminates the need for a
complicated and expensive gateway requiring separate programming
with its own software. All devices can be directly put into operation in
the familiar way via the ETS 5, just like hard-wired KNX products. If
difficult architectural conditions make the wireless signal range too low
in some cases, the Gira KNX RF/TP media coupler can be used in its
additional “repeater mode” function to increase the range.
