FREIFRAU MANUFAkTUR: Aus dem Esstischstuhl ist
ein Sofa und ein Sessel entstanden. Welche Merk-
male wolltest Du auf die Produktfamilienerweite-
rung unbedingt anwenden?
HANNE WIllMANN: Die oberste Priorität war, das
hohe komfortversprechen des Nana Stuhls auch
auf das Sofa und den Sessel zu übertragen. Ich
habe selten in einem so komfortablen Stuhl wie
dem Nana gesessen und letzten Endes haben wir
es geschafft, mit der Produktfamilienerweiterung
diesem Anspruch gerecht zu werden.
FF: Was war dir beim Sofa besonders wichtig und was
beim Sessel?
HW: Trotz der optischen Nähe haben wir mit Sofa und
Sessel zwei eigenständige Produkte entworfen, die
auch unabhängig voneinander funktionieren und
auch als solche wahrgenommen werden. Dafür ha-
ben wir bei beiden Produkten stark auf eine eigen-
ständige Formensprache geachtet, die sich aber in
kombination der beiden Möbel ideal ergänzt.
FREIFRAU MANUFAkTUR: The Dining Chair has been
joined by a sofa and an armchair. Which characte-
ristics from the original model were you most keen
to maintain in the first additions to the family?
HANNE WIllMANN: The first priority was to transfer
the exacting standards vis-à-vis comfort from the
chair to the sofa and the armchair. I have, after all,
rarely sat in a chair as comfortable as Nana and in
the end, we managed to achieve this aim when we
extended the range.
FF: What was especially important when designing the
sofa and the armchair?
HW: Although they appear very similar, the sofa and the
armchair are two quite distinct products which also
work independently of one another – and are con-
sidered as such. To achieve this, when designing
each model, we were careful to make the design
language as distinctive as possible, but in such a
way as the two models still talk to each other when
combined.
