Visible concrete is part of the language of modern architecture and, with Aplomb, Foscarini presents a model that uses this material with completely new and innovative technology. The material is translated, from large-scale architecture to a small suspension light, for interiors making it an elegant product with a simple formality, inspired by a material that has always been linked to the world of construction. This is what also inspires its name: Aplomb, a plumb-bob traditionally used by masons. However, aplomb also means ‘self-possessed, confident’, like this lamp that distances itself from aseptic minimalism with all the material richness of concrete.
Combining the need to obtain highly reduced dimensions and thickness, detailed finishes and smooth surfaces with the characteristic viscosity and lack of flexibility of concrete was the greatest challenge in developing Aplomb. The result was achieved thanks to the use of a special amalgam, which is particularly fluid in the mould and produces a surface that appears rough, but which is gentle to the touch, as refined by a transparent layer finish. The lamp has an airy design, with the characteristic shape of an upside-down funnel, which mitigates the massive solidity of concrete yet celebrates its material aspect,.
Aplomb creates precise, direct lighting, ideal for tables, peninsulas or counters, alone or in composition. It comes in three colour finishes that highlight its personality and meet different styles: from the classic grey of rough concrete, which gives depth to volumes, to elegant white or warm, intense brown. These are colours that are particularly suitable, either in harmony or contrast to all environments, whether in the home or contract sectors. Aplomb floor
The natural, contemporary charm of concrete is reimagined in the form a floor lamp with a simple linear shape. This new lamp resembles a burning torch that can be grabbed and easily moved.
In a natural development from the previous suspension model, Aplomb floor tackles new design challenges. The elegant line of the body, which houses the light source, remains the same in concept but its proportions have been completely redesigned in a more slender form.
This creates a full, rounded volume when viewed from the front and a more flat appearance when viewed from the side. The white rod supports the body with a strong material, made by pouring a special, amalgam concrete into a special mold that is then refined with a layer of a transparent finish.
The intense light beam is directed upwards, which is fully shielded from view by the concrete diffuser. The concrete material translates the expressive language of modern architecture into an indoor lamp with great, refined simplicity. The focus of the design is to show the dialogue between light and material, underlining the purity of the design and style.
The Aplomb floor lamp can be used on its own or in multiple compositions. It is available in three finishes that enhance its personality, catering for different style tastes.

Aplomb mini
Foscarini proposes an even smaller version of the original suspension Aplomb lamp, which can be used alone or together with the matching larger model at home or in contract settings, over tables, work tops or islands. Aplomb mini is also made in three colours for endless combinations and contexts: grey, white and brown.
