Sanremo, l’Accademia di Belle Arti ha aperto le proprie porte
a un evento che ha l’ambizione di essere – nella città di fiori –
un nuovo punto di riferimento per la cultura del progetto. Con
SAND 25 – Sanremo Design 2025, si è infatti inaugurata una piattaforma
che intreccia formazione artistica, ricerca e impresa. Un’occasione preziosa
per condividere idee, visioni e oggetti capaci di attraversare epoche e stili,
andando oltre le mode. Insieme ad Artemide, Edra ha accompagnato
gli studenti in questo primo percorso di confronto e sperimentazione,
generoso nel mettere a disposizione non solo i modelli della collezione,
ma anche competenze, storie e saperi. La temporalità sospesa del design,
tema scelto per questa edizione, invita a riflettere su quanto un oggetto
possa farsi eredità culturale, diventare memoria e prospettiva insieme,
conquistando una dimensione senza tempo.
Il progetto ha coinvolto docenti, studenti,
professionisti e le due aziende in un intenso
calendario di incontri, workshop, talk, con
un obiettivo comune: creare ponti tra il
mondo accademico e quello produttivo,
alimentando il talento dei giovani attraverso
esperienze concrete. Così è nato un
racconto collettivo, che oggi prende forma in
una mostra immersiva, ospitata nella cornice
elegante dell’Accademia, tra il giardino, i
chiostri e le aule. Gli studenti hanno esposto,
ma anche interpretato, i pezzi delle collezioni
e il pensiero degli autori, attraverso raffinati
progetti di grafica, exhibit e pittura. Tra le
“stanze” più emozionanti quella dedicata
a Pack, protagonista di uno spazio onirico
in cui l’orso e la sua banchisa galleggiano
nel bianco assoluto, circondati da fiori fuori
scala. Ad accompagnare il set up, la voce
di Francesco Binfaré: sullo sfondo di uno
schermo che riproduce immagini di una
potente natura incontaminata, le parole dell’autore narrano la nascita del
progetto, immergendo il visitatore nella dimensione più intima e profonda
del suo fantastico sogno. L’inaugurazione, seguita da un talk moderato
da Carlo Biasia con Monica Mazzei, Vicepresidente di Edra, e Carlotta
de Bevilacqua, Presidente di Artemide, ha sancito la partenza ufficiale
di SAND, acronimo che racchiude Sanremo Design ed evoca la sabbia,
materia grezza capace di trasformarsi in forma e significato. Una metafora
per raccontare la missione dell’Accademia: plasmare idee, accompagnare
i giovani verso una cultura del fare, del progettare e del vivere. “Portiamo
l’Accademia nel territorio e il territorio dentro l’Accademia”, ha
raccontato il Vicedirettore Massimo Donizelli, sintetizzando la volontà di
aprire la scuola al dialogo con le imprese, la comunità e le istituzioni. E
anche di far toccare con mano al pubblico il presente più vivo del design
italiano, in una narrazione che alterna memoria e futuro, radici e visione,
con l’intento di ispirare nuove generazioni di creativi.

he Academy of Fine Arts In Sanremo opened its doors to an
event with ambitions for becoming, in the “city of flowers”, a
new reference in design culture. SAND 25 – Sanremo Design
2025 inaugurated a platform that weaves together research, business
and arts education: a valuable opportunity for sharing visions, ideas and
objects capable of crossing eras and styles to go beyond trends. Edra,
together with Artemide, accompanied students on a first journey of
discussion and experimentation, not only generously providing models
from their collections, but stories, skills and knowledge. The theme
chosen for this year’s edition was The suspended temporality of design,
inviting reflection on how objects become cultural legacy, transforming
into both memory and prospect, and taking on a timeless dimension. The
project involved professionals, teachers,
students and the two companies, in an
intense calendar of meetings, workshops,
and talks with a common objective: building
bridges between the academic world and the
world of production, nurturing the talent of
young people through concrete experience.
Thus a collective story was born, that today
takes the shape of an immersive exhibition
housed in the Academy’s elegant settings,
amid gardens, cloisters, and classrooms.
The students exhibited, and interpreted,
pieces from the collections of the companies
and the thinking of their creator-authors,
with refined drawings, exhibits, and
paintings. One of the most moving “rooms”
is dedicated to Pack, protagonist of a
dreamlike space in which the bear on its ice
floe float in the midst of an absolute white,
surrounded by oversized flowers. The set
up is accompanied by the voice of Francesco
Binfaré. Against the backdrop of a screen
displaying images of powerful, uncontaminated nature, the author’s
words narrate the project’s birth, immersing visitors in the deepest most
intimate dimensions of his fantastical dream. The inauguration, followed
by a talk with Vicepresident of Edra, Monica Mazzei, and President of
Artemide, Carlotta de Bevilacqua, was moderated by Carlo Biasia, and
marked the official launch of SAND, an acronym of Sanremo Design that
evokes a raw material capable of transforming into shape and meaning: a
metaphor for the Academy’s mission of shaping ideas, and accompanying
young people in the direction of a culture of making, designing, and
living. “We are bringing the Academy into the territorio – the local area
– and the territorio into the Academy” recounts Vice Director Massimo
Donizelli, synthesising the desire to open dialogue between the school
and businesses, community and institutions. To let the public experience,
firsthand, the vibrant present of Italian design, in a narrative that alternates
memory with future, and roots with vision, with the intent of inspiring new
generations of creatives.
