lingua di chi sa fare, e questo mi permette di guidare i processi
della produzione, quando, più che le idee, serve l’empatia”.
Per Binfaré ci sono delle materie che hanno la loro forza nella
capacità di raccontare le idee. “Come certi tessuti che Edra crea
per i miei divani. I loro riflessi, le loro luci, le sensazioni che
restituiscono al tatto sono il frutto di una forma d’arte. Che in
questo caso si fonde col mestiere, con un’opera che deve molto
all’intelligenza e alla creatività,
ma più all’intelligenza che alla
creatività”. Che poi non bisogna
sempre credere a quello che
dice Binfaré. Per esempio, non
è mica vero che non gioca con
l’eternità della materia. Basta
seguire il suo ragionamento,
che parte dall’isola più lontana
per approdare piano piano
al continente. Non c’è che
aspettare il vento giusto, le
onde giuste. E quando tutto
si allinea, Binfaré ricorda che
la sua qualità di avere delle
visioni ha prodotto almeno
tre
invenzioni:
il
Cuscino
Intelligente che è regolabile e
reclinabile in ogni direzione,
la separazione dello schienale
dal sedile e poi il divano Flap,
che rappresenta l’idea di una
forma. “Sono archetipi, sono
ingegnerie di valore. È una
questione di semantica”. E
il linguaggio non è proprio
eterno, ma ci si avvicina, o
almeno ci tenta. Si deve a tutto
questo se quel pomeriggio di
giugno Binfaré ha messo piede
per la prima volta sul palco
del Teatro alla Scala. Erano le
prove per una serata d’onore
organizzata in suo omaggio
da Edra che, con quell’evento, ha ricordato anche Giovanni
Gastel. La cerimonia vera e propria sarebbe iniziata poche ore
dopo. Con Binfaré mattatore. Un maestro che ha inventato un
linguaggio.

to transform Binfaré’s ideas into matter. Binfaré’s art stretches
that far: “I know the language of skilled people, and this allows
me to guide the processes of production when empathy is
more required than ideas”. For Binfaré, the strength of some
materials is to be found in their ability to narrate ideas: “Like
certain fabrics that Edra creates for my sofas. Their reflections,
their glow, and the sensations they give when touched are the
result of a form of art. Which,
in this case, merges with craft,
with a piece that owes much
to intelligence and creativity,
but more to intelligence than
creativity”.
However,
one
should not always believe what
Binfaré says. For example, it
is not true that he doesn’t play
with the eternity of matter. Just
follow his reasoning, which
starts from the farthest island
and slowly makes its way to the
continent. All one has to do is
wait for the right wind, the right
waves. And when everything
comes into line, Binfaré recalls
that his ability of visioning
has resulted in at least three
inventions: the Smart Cushion,
which is adjustable and tilts in
every direction; the separation
of the backrest from the seat;
and then the Flap sofa, which
represents the idea of a shape.

the language is not exactly
eternal, but it comes close to it
or, at least, tries to. That is why
Binfaré set foot on the stage
of La Scala for the first time
on that June afternoon. It was
the rehearsal for an evening organised in his honour by Edra,
commemorating Giovanni Gastel. The actual ceremony would
start a few hours later. With Binfaré as the star. A master who
invented a new language.
